Coarse & Fly Fishing

The Feathers Hotel is just a short drive from the beautiful River Wye, a legendary and much loved destination for fishing near Ledbury. From high summer to the depths of winter, it is a brilliant venue, with several stretches available for day ticket anglers available from the Wye and Usk Foundation (www.wyeuskfoundation.org).

Fly fishing can be fantastic for a variety of species, with specimen trout, big grayling and of course salmon- although the waters near Ledbury and Hereford are perhaps even better suited to coarse species such as chub and pike, which provide fly fishing right through the winter.

Coarse fishing near Ledbury also yields some interesting possibilities. The River Wye has fabulous barbel, chub and dace through the summer months with some amazing catches possible for the travelling angler. The same species can be caught in the winter, but there is also the potential to catch a really big pike; specimen fish of over twenty pounds are caught every season by fishermen prepared to take on the elements. Last but not least, there is also some excellent still water coarse and carp fishing near Ledbury, Redbank and Pixley Pools.
